Asahidake, or Mount Asahi, is the tallest mountain in Hokkaido, Japan, standing at 2,290m tall. It is part of the Daisetsuzan Volcanic Group. It provides gondola access to a ridge leading to mountain, and you can ski the peak or skirt around it both of which lead back to the resort.
Mount Asahi is in the northern part of the Daisetsuzan National Park, and is popular with hikers in the summer. It can be easily reached from Asahidake Onsen via a ropeway (cable car).
Sagatami pond, directly below the peak, is famous for its reflection of the peaks, snow, and steam escaping from the volcanic vents.
